Bipolar disorder is a mental health condition that affects a person’s mood. It causes dramatic shifts in high and low mood and a person’s mood, energy, and ability to think clearly. If left untreated, bipolar worsens (NAMI).

Treatment includes psychotherapy, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), family focussed therapy, medication like lithium, anticonvulsants, second generation antipsychotics, antidepressants, and electroconvulsive therapy (NAMI), (Drugs.com). Lithium is known to have a common side effect on the liver and kidneys (Drugs.com). Anticonvulsants are also used to treat bipolar disorder, as well as seizures (Drugs.com).

Bipolar disorder isn’t just being in a bad mood or being upset, it’s uncontrolled extreme mood change. Although many sources show that lucid dreaming improves mood, it'll worsen bipolar disorder. It will likely worsen sleep patterns, which are already worsened, and may cause distance from reality (Timperley).
